Pride Month

I am not here to bash or belittle the LGBTQ community, enough of that happens already.

June 2026 has arrived. With June comes Pride Month. Today my hometown will host an event to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ community. They’ve gone as far as lighting up the famous El Paso star in rainbow colored lights. This star sits above the city and is a sight to see from central El Paso.  They keep this star lit in rainbow colors for the entire month of June. I find it interesting that the world we live in has chosen this sinful lifestyle to celebrate and prop up as if it is something worth celebrating. Sin was never meant to be celebrated or paraded the way it is during the month of June. All of mankind’s sins will be judged unless there is genuine repentance from the depths of their hearts, away from their foolish and evil ways. Don’t let me confuse you, I am not here to bash or belittle the LGBTQ community, enough of that happens already. We see it on social media, and we hear it coming from many people including religious groups and unfortunately even from some “Christians”. Sin is sin. We can’t love one form of sin and hate the other. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 warns us of those sins that will keep us from inheriting the kingdom of God or going to Heaven. Some of the sins discussed in these verses include unrighteousness, fornication, idolatry, adultery, homosexuality, sodomizing, theft, covetousness, and drunkenness.  Why is it that we celebrate homosexuality, but we don’t have a month to celebrate alcoholism? Do we consider one more shameful than the other? Why do some churches speak out against homosexuality, but not fornication? Why do some churches stay quiet on both topics? 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 doesn’t tell us that one sin is worse than the other does it? Fornicators just like homosexuals and drunkards, will not inherit the kingdom of God. It doesn’t just say homosexuals. I truly hope that Churches are speaking out against fornication because it is unwinding the fabric of our society. I see many people these days living together, having kids, but not committing to each other in marriage. This goes for younger, middle aged and older people alike. Cohabitation has become trendy and increasingly popular. Cohabiting or living together and having sex outside of God’s design (marriage) is sin. If you’re living this way you are living in sin. This goes for the drunkard and the homosexual as well. From the beginning God created man and He created woman, He did this with intention and thoughtful consideration. He did this by design. He created us to where only a man and a woman could procreate. He knew that one day we’d live in a world so dark and confused that we’d fool ourselves into thinking that two women or two men could reproduce. Or that two men and two women could cancel out and replace His original design for the nuclear family. God created only man and woman to procreate because He knew the importance that a father and a mother would hold in a child’s life. He designed marriage because He knew that committing to one spouse and one family would carry significant importance in raising future generations. He never intended for children to be raised by single parents, same sex partners, or careless parents. Children were never meant to live in households that lacked one parent or even both parents. Let it be clear that a biological father and a biological mother bring a sense of balance  to a family that can’t be replaced or substituted by anything or anyone else. The United States is in a bad way right now. We currently triple the rest of the world in single parent households. Marriage is under attack and is no longer recognized only between a man and a woman. Unwanted children that are lost and confused are the result of rampant fornication, cohabitation, and relationships that fall apart because of “differences and unhappiness”. If we want to change the world and make it better for next generations we need to turn the tide on the epidemic that has risen from fornication, homosexuality, and adultery. If you’re guilty of any of these sins there is hope. I can’t finish writing this without mentioning the hope we find in 1 Corinthians 6:11 which states “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God”. Jesus Christ died for our sins. All of them. Every single sin listed in the scriptures above. There is no new sin under the sun that He isn’t already aware of. There is no such thing as a sin beyond forgiveness. There is no such thing as too far gone. Our nation is sitting, soaking, and celebrating in sin. We as a nation and as individuals should take the opportunity to repent and be forgiven before it’s too late. I don’t write this as a Christian man that thinks I am better than others. I write this as a Christian man that is guilty of almost of every sin listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, but has been forgiven and redeemed. I hope to encourage you to do the same. Turn from your sin and look forward to inheriting the kingdom of God.
